Vapor [2009]
Vapor constructs a theoretical universe through the invention of a pharmaceutical designed to perpetually regenerate human cells and eliminate biological decline. Through a multi-channel video environment accompanied by paintings and sculptures, the project examines the consequences of a technology that alters humanity’s relationship to mortality and time. The apparatus of artificial rejuvenation creates a reality in which the desire to overcome limitation reveals new forms of vulnerability and existential uncertainty. “Vapor conflates the aesthetics of David Lynch with the ambience of THX 1138.” —Robert Yarber (Sonnabend)
